"Space" is the theme for this year's Canberra & Region Heritage Festival, and Mill Pond Farm will be presenting a special exhibition "The Space Within" documenting some of the challenges of finding new uses for the variety of historic buildings on the property over the past ten years. Frank Lloyd Wright quipped "The space within becomes the reality of the building". The extraordinary spaces inside the 1859 four storey Mill, the 1840s wagon barns and the converted 1910 schoolhouse, all of which lost their original use over a century ago, have presented new challenges as we've worked to make the buildings sustainable, viable and useful into the future whilst retaining a sense of original purpose.
The exhibition explores the challenges and progress over the past ten years, and plans for the future. The 1859 Mill, 1840s Barn and converted 1910 schoolhouse are open to visitors with their collections of vintage vehicles, art and antiques. Set in the lovely Jembaicumbene Valley ten minutes from Braidwood.
Exhibition open 10.00am to 4.00pm Saturdays and Sundays - 13th April to 5th May 2019
